Alternating Current

Alternating Current is electric current that repeatedly changes direction and varies in magnitude over time. Most utility power uses alternating current because transformers can change its voltage efficiently for transmission and building service. In North America, household power commonly operates at 60 hertz, meaning the current completes 60 cycles each second.
